Duck tail question
Thinking of adding a duck tail to my '85 factory fat-a** Targa. I am getting my hands on a 3.2 rear deck lid grill soon. Is it the correct size for a typical (MA Shaw or Getty) aftermarket duck tail?

Hi TDW, the factory grille should fit on the duck tail with no problems as they are copies of the originals from the 70's. However there is always the chance you have to do a bit of adjustments but the grill should fit for the most part without issues. I also have a 85 Targa and I have a Getty Duck tail on mine that I bought used from a member of this forum, I just had it painted and it is really nice! I got the newer Porsche grill which is plastic and it fit with no issues. Here are some pics so you can get an idea:

Speaking of duck tails. Can anyone verify this claim? Apparently BMW Part #51 23 8 229 807 rear deck striker (aka male latch) is the exact same as Porsche part #93051205200. The Porsche version is selling anywhere from $40 to $75 on eBay. The BMW version sells for $20.

I just used our sponsors parts search and the pics for both latches look similar. However the end part of the latch itself seems a bit different plus the base holes look a bit bigger on the BMW latch. Unless someone here on the forum have use the Bimmer latch for a Pcar and say it would work. Oh another thing the Pcar latch seem a bit shorter.
