My orig owner's manual is as good as new and I have read most of it. However, when it came to the intermittant dask knob, I didn't read that section since I already knew what the knob did. I just didn't realize that clockwise meant slower and assumed it was old and broke (like me).

The switch rotates to the right, or clockwise, the first notch is the "least" amount of delay, further rotation to the right, increases the amount of delay. You gots to think German, the knob is for intermittent operation, you are dialing in delay!

Now that explains it. I'm guessing the emergency flasher switch is in a normal off position when on because that means the car is off (as in don't work).

yea, yea, thats it. it doesnt get wet

really, i try not to drive it when it rains, but if another car is down or i get caught, it gets wet. so in my defense, i really have not driven in the rain very much.

Another great day in 911 ownership is when you completely understand your heater, ventilation, and a/c controls.

here's a simple - easy-to-understand - explaination (with schematic) about the aforementioned controls -
any questions?

(not mine - lifted from an old thread that someone put a lot of time and effort into - thanks)

I love these threads - I used all my buttons and knobs a few times when I read the manual so I "knew"

I have put my car in the garage for a week now, I miss it but have some upgrades I am working on - plus I saw Noah packing a load of lumber the other day, I wonder what he is doing......gosh this rain doesnt seem to be letting up

Don't feel so bad, I've had my '80 SC for more than 20 years and whenever I have to use the heater controls, I scratch my head and discount my intuition or memory while still fumbling around trying to trim it just right AND always requiring a few attempts.

Thanks for coming out re the heater diagram: it feels good to know that I'm not alone while viewing the diagram and getting cross-eyed http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/a_frusty.gif[img]

my heater controls are set to max defrost and they never get touched, except for the fan speed. if i can't see i turn on the fan. if i am cold i pull the levers between the seats. that's good enough for me.

My blower motor is on the fritz, so when I am cold I drive faster. This serves the dual purpose of forcing more hot air through the heat exchangers and propelling me to my (presumably) heated destination.

I think I counted something like 7 fan blowers in the HVAC of my 84. Was there simply no way for the German engineers to find a way for an 8th?
