Remeber the the 2 SC's in Excellence last year. Well I found one of the 2 for sale. Eventually this is what I want my car to look like, except Sienna in color.http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/classifieds/classifieds.cgi?search_and_display_db_button=on&db_id=991&query=retrieval

I can't stop looking at that car. That's a goal I can achieve lookswise. Get it lowered in the rear. Get the bbs wheels. Wow. I'm totally swimming at the possibilities. That car looks f'ing b!tchen

Call me crazy, but I don't think he can get anywhere near $37k for that. Yeah, it's probably a bargain at that price. But he's got the same problem as the $28k concours condition 85 Carrera Targa we talked about the other day - too much competition from much newer cars. Why buy a 78SC with a 95 993 3.6 motor when you can buy an entire 95 993 for the same money!?

If he would have done the same thing to an RS-replica early car (or properly back-dated this car), he might have a chance. There's actually a small pool of guys looking for those cars. -- Curt

There was a bunch of post when this article came out. The basic premise was how its crazy to dump this amount of money into a car and expect to get it back if you sell it. I guess we'll find out!

I agree w/ Wayne the car is every bit as good as a newer car.... and more true to the marque...

I remember that article as well, but all I could think about when reading it was "why???" and then I answered my own question ... "because he can."

It will be interesting to see what this car ends up going for.

Unfortunately the car isn't useful as a race car since it's not built to a specific regulation. So, for example in PCA racing it would be lumped into the GT2 Superclass where it would be totally non-competitive despite how awesome it appears.

This car is a modern-day RS, and I think it is a steal at $37k. Talk about a blast to drive, not to mention looks killer. If I wasn't so enamoured with my turbo, I would buy it.

Kurt, you should definitely get your car looking like this. It is just a great looking car. And, actually those are Fikse wheels not BBS.

Nobody builds a car like this in order to "get their money out." When I finished restoring/modifying/reviving my '83 SC, I told people, "I just spent $60,000 building a brand-new $20,000 car," which I'm perfectly well aware is probably all I'll ever be able to sell it for. It's like the MasterCard commercial: "Project car, $10,000. Parts, $50,000. Experience, priceless." (Admittedly, I did it all myself, from engine/trans rebuild to bodywork and painting, rather than writing checks, which is where the "experience" part comes in.) People either get it or they don't.

I think it looks pretty sharp, really...

Love the wheels, the clean no-sills look and the IROC front bumper. It's a killer package!
