Luggage compartment front trunk light switch help
The hole on the hood hinge where my front trunk light switch mounts is stripped out. The switch is therefore loose and does not keep a good ground so keeps blowing fuses.
I need some ideas on how to repair it so the switch will hold tightly and ground out properly. I thought of putting a nut on the inside of it, but the thread on the switch appears to be a wierd size, about half way between M8 and M10 and don't match anything standard either. Also thought of using conductive epoxy....but $35 for 0.5oz of the stuff is crazy! Any other ideas on how I can get this thing secure and conductive? Anything conductive I could wrap around the threads to increase the diameter slightly? Thanks!!

As the switch is threaded, can you not use spacers and packers to tighten the switch so it is secure, the right height and earthed?

I was able to get it secured by putting a push-nut on the inner aspect of the hood hinge, holding it down with needle nose pliers and threading the new switch into it. I used a nylon washer as a spacer.
I also installed a secondary switch so that the light can be turned off when I need to leave the hood up for long periods of time w/ the battery connected, such as when working on the car. Photo below. Thanks!!
