What's with the Guest posts?

Why is there so many Guest posts on the first page with noobie questions easily found with a simple search?

If you don't want to register, you shouldn't be posting.

They are autogenerated posts that don't show up until someone on the Pelican staff responds to them.. They have been doing it on the Boxster board for some time and all they have managed to do is run off many of the "real" users.

Some of the guest posts are from 2012. I doubt they (the guests) are around to read today's replies.

Then Nick needs to stop responding....

It's really ridiculous

Hey, you're right. Where did all the guest posts come from all of a sudden? Crap needs to stop. It's like spam. Where are the moderators? Wayne?

Interesting...I, like many no doubt, was also wondering why all of a sudden 'Nick' + 'Quest's' started popping up on so many posts. I saw the 'auto-generated' script but didn't quite understand why that was also happening...Now I do - I agree with you - Can't say that I like it - Thanks.

IMO, Nick needs to STOP!

Makes it darned difficult to follow a "real" thread from earlier this morning - it's like four pages back now.

Theory 1: They will slow down for a while as they get caught up with/ respond to all of the comments made to the tech' articles.
and #2, could be related to one of the new jobs recently opened, and therefore may begin to pick up again as more guests see their questions are being answered, although probably in a more timely manner.

Personally, I think the responses should remain on the tech article site, and the guest should be invited to join the forum.

I am an extremely inexperienced Pelican poster, and new 911 enthusiast -- and some of these "guest" post are too dumb -- even for me. And I know nothing compared to a lot of the regular posters.

There is certainly room for newbie posts, and the like. But, for God's sake -- don't post every question from the tech pages.

You'll kill this forum. And, if you kill this forum, Parts orders will plummet. Mine sure will...

The the tech forum is really becoming less about tech and more like Facebook anyway, what with the threads about everything from from what color your wheels are to tattooed Porches festooned with ridiculous stickers.

To be fair, are there really any technical questions left that someone somewhere on this forum hasn't already answered?

I mean, besides "does anyone make a really good air conditioning upgrade?"

Are you asking this question or are you trying to slip in some info about a new, awesome (although unproven), top secret a/c invention of yours on the sly? Of course, it will not be available to DIY types (wait a minute, I mean certain DIY types only) and they must be willing to sign a non disclosure agreement!

I believe that I answered that one already. See Rennaire w the ProCooler, or search for Mitch Leland's tech article and threads on the topic.

Very ANNOYING and needs to stop or lots of people will be disgusted and get tired of it which will cause them to leave. Sadly it might be some of the real users. Please fix it.
