Post Light switch

Can anyone tell me the best way to remove the headlight/parking light switch on my '82SC. I want to remove it to inspect the condition of the wiring. I had an electrical short in the left side parking light wiring that runs through the front bonnet/through the firewall/then to the light switch. I replaced the section of wire in the bonnet but would feel more comfortable if I could see the wiring at the switch. I just can't seem to get a good look at it from underneath but pulling the switch looks like a real bear!! TIA

Pulling the light switch on your SC is not difficult. With the knob pulled out, you will find a small hole in the shaft. use a small screwdriver to hold the shaft and unscrew the knob turning in a anti-clockwise direction. You can use a pair of snap ring pliers to unscrew the "nut" that holds the switch to the dash, and the switch will pull out with wires attached. Piece of Cake! As they say in the manuals, "Assemble in reverse order". Good luck

Hello

Targa/Convertible or Coupe ?

On first remove the ground from the battery and then pry out the symbol cap from the switch loose the 10 mm nut an turn out the knob. Then grip the switch from the rear and twist it to loose the frontbezel. If it will not come loose you need a tool for the bezel.

On the Coupe you have much more space and can see direct on the switch.

The switch will run a short wire to the socket in the firewall.

Normaly the lights are fused and the main wire loom and switch are protectet except someone did short it or missused the setup. I also would check for other hidden bombs.

Grüsse
