Left Side Oil Feed/Return Lines?
Hey all,
I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to racing Porsche knowledge, and I noticed an interesting detail I had not seen before.. Plus, this question gives me a chance to post some IROC pictures! http://www.mecum.com/auctions/CA0812...2-134309_1.jpg http://www.mecum.com/auctions/CA0812...2-134309_9.jpg http://www.mecum.com/auctions/CA0812...2-134309_3.jpg Images are a bit small, but I can see what are the typical oil lines for a 911, on both sides of the car? Are these typical on racing models, or just an IROC thing, or what? As far as I know, these use a single external oil cooler up front, so why would it need all this extra plumbing? Cheers. |

I doubt that the Fittipaldi car is THE original. The other lines could be A/C or a custom trans cooler.

Didn't see them on the real one at Rothsport in September. :)

1974 Porsche 911 RSR IROC The Emerson Fittipaldi Car for sale by Mecum Auction Trans cooler makes sense, but I was under the impression that competition 915s used a mid-mounted one off the gearbox. So the question remains .. I feel I've seen it on other racing cars, but can't remember where. Here's one line on a 934, maybe a different setup? http://p.images.boldride.com/porsche....32.396958.jpg |
The "oil line" on the bottom picture is an A/C line which is held on by single clamps
