Question Clifford Alarm System Blues

. Found the solenoid for the trunk and the horn connection, but no fuse. Question: Is there a connecting wire going from the ignition switch to the alarm unit somewhere? Is there a single fuse for the alarm? Other than fuel pump? or starter?, does the alarm disable anything else? What are the two identical black, square Bosch relays, mounted side by side (twin) close to the main fuse box for? Are they part of the alarm set-up? Greetings from a puzzled dude.

Cool

Gun...I deClifforded my 911 a few months ago..the starter trigger wire from ign. sw. went to the Cliff. box..located next to/under the fresh air box..easy to sort this out..maybe a pencil and paper to help keep track of everything..most of the Cliff. wires are itty bitty size so easy to spot..the 2 relays may be for headlites, a possible upgrade...the power to the relay must be fused..make sure....I did a new Viper unit w/same starter kill formula..what I don't like is the 12 ga. wire at the Viper ignition/starter control..IMO, it's a long run to starter sol. and a starter sol. can, at times, draw big amps.. I'm thinking big wire from ign. sw. to starter sol. with the Viper controling a Bosh 75 amp relay in between the long wire run..I think a starter sol. may draw over 30 amps when hot,, not sure..I'm concerned about voltage drop with current stock Viper system.....Ron

I agree with RoninLB about the two bosch relays.

If you have H4 headights with the 80/100 W bulb those relays are probably there to help safeguard against current overload and fuse blow-outs in the headlight circuits.

Here's a photo from the Pelican product listing:

Porsche Crest

The twin Bosch relays are not for the headlights. There is no click when the high/low beam is activated. I pulled them out and the starter does not turn over. They have something to do with the alarm, but what and why? There is also a small size box with an adjustment screw that I think is set up to be activated when the car is jolted. Or? I am glad when I have all of that stuff gone and the wiring back to standard. Any more thoughts?

(didn't read the previous answer. sorry)

How you all doin? A lurker answers:

Should only be one relay to disable the starter on that thing. best to leave it in place since the relay is physically in line between the key and solenoid. The one to the starter, as stated before should have 12 ga. wire going through it.

The box w/ screw is probably a motion sensor..

You should be able to see a "black box" w clifford logos all over it. Unplugging it from it's harnesses shouldn't affect the vehicle's operation - just don't pull any relays. Get underneath the dash with your mag - lite and wire cutters and seek it out.

Maybe the model is listed here

And of course, standard disclaimers apply w/ this advice!

One other question -

Describe this impact sensor you see, is it a clear box or black with an LED on it? Probably has a black, red, and Orange wire coming out of it..
