carrera oxygen sensors

there are 2 oxygen sensors listed for the 84-89 carrera. one is for the 84-86 and the other for 87-89. what is the difference??? thanks

one has more wires than the other.

My 84 had a single wire sensor but it was a Euro car an might have been fitted with an oddball to get it into the state. The later ones have 3 wires, 2 wires heat up the sensor to make it effective sooner.

every 84-89 carrera i have seen has the same 3 wire connector, so i'm sure both oxygen sensors have heaters

YOu can also get a Ford Taurus 1996 O2s and splice the wires :D

The original O2 sensors were single wire with no pre-heater. Once that one failed, most put in the 3 wire version.

I used a generic one (not sure if it was for a Ford Taurus) and spliced the wires. It was far less expensive than the Porsche-specific part, and it works just fine.

YMMV.
