Sunroof help required.
Went to close the sunroof....Yes it is summer here
![]() Loud BANG!....followed by a slow closing of the roof...assisted with some gentle help by hand...finally ending with it closed. But with one side at the back sitting very low. ![]() Any suggestions as to what may have happened? I would like to be prepared with parts on hand before I look further.

Ordinarily I would say a cable snapped, but I have never heard one fail with a bang.
Interesting picture, what is it?

You were probably attacked by a Kea parrot
![]() ![]() Seriously, when I bought mine last year one of the sunroof cables has probably broken. I fixed mine by re-attaching it at the slider on the sunroof rail by re-crimping. so far so good.

Good call Rick.
![]() It is the sunroof though....but with the artistic reflection of the raised garage door added, just to confuse.

You are best to start by removing the sunroof.
There is a very good re-furb section in our Hosts 101 Projects book, It looks to me that possibly the mounts that connect the cables to the roof itself have failed as they were a combination of plastic and metal. I would recommend doing a full refurb as per the 101 Projects article describes. It is very easy to do but you have to be methodical and follow instructions! If you have any queries PM me and I can guide answer if you like. We antipodeans need to stick together..... |
