Does fog light switch have a replaceable bulb?

Have searched the archives but did not find a clear answer. The backlighting on my fog light switch does not work. Ambient backlight has been out for years and until recently it did light up bright when fogs are on, but not anymore.

The parts catalog shows a bulb listed for the defrost switch, but not for the fog light switch.

Will be taking ventilation out soon for some other work, so would like to tackle at the same time...

Thanks!

the bulb loads in from the front trunk area. F/A fan needs to come out first.

I am assuming that the fog light switches for the 1982 cars will be the larger ones. The ones in my '87 are a bit smaller. I don't know what year they changed, but it was sometime in the early to mid 80s.

The smaller knob switches most definitely are lit. On these, the bulbs are very easy to replace. All you need to do is pop out the middle plastic piece with the symbol on it and grasp the bulb and pull straight out - it's not threaded or anything. Replace with a new bulb and pop that plastic piece back in. Easy.

Here are a couple shots of mine. Smaller knob switches in an unlit state:

I just replaced the bulb in my 83 SC. Just peel off the switch cover (you can get behind it with a small screwdriver). The bulb is recessed in the knob so grabbing it is a bit of a chore. I used a hemostat, but a short length of rubber or plastic tubing might also work. Warren

Thanks! After removing my entire ventilation system to get the switches out I came back to read the two most recent replies...

Got new bulbs in the switches (fogs and defrost) now. And the ventilation area is much cleaner now, at least I was able to clean everything up and clean the contacts on the switch connectors. Actually as it turned out two of the fog light switch wires were swapped which may be why prior to this project my fog light switch would not light up brighter when turned on. Fixed now, working properly!

LOL!!! :D

In fairness to John, he also changes the oil from inside the cabin...:p
