Rear parcel shelf help.

I have an 85 911 that is new to me. It appears to have a full leather interior. Both the front and rear dash are leather and look awful. They both have leather peeling away from the glass. The rear parcel shelf is curled up, and I ended up breaking the leather while trying to work in some leather oils.

The dash I'm going to save for another day since I think it'll be a lot more expensive. Now that I have to reupholster the rear, what are my options? I seriously doubt I'll be able to flatten the underlaying cardboard. Is there a pattern somewhere that I can copy to make the shelf piece again? Does it detach from the quilted lower part?

Part of me wants to rip the leather off and try and squash the material underneath but I'm quite sure it would break as well.

As an aside, any idea how the black rubbery stuff that is stuck to the body comes off? The part that is underneath where this piece sits?

You shouldn't have any problem finding a used one in good shape. I would start shopping for prices - you may find it is very inexpensive.

Yes, they separate.

Not to be a naysayer...but blue parcel shelves are tough to find. Black? All day, any day, but blue....not so much...

I agree, most of the ones I've seen are black vinyl.

Is there a place in here that sells just the dark blue leather itself?

It seems like if I could manage to flatten the cardboard, it would be pretty straightforward to recover it.

Are there fasteners connecting the two pieces? or are they glued?
