I need another recommendation for a PPI, this time in Edison, NJ!!

Hey all,

First of all, thanks to a bunch of you for your last recommendations on the PPI in Queens. I ended up using Sonny and SM Motorspots. Mark Tasjian wasn't available at his shop, but everything worked out (bad car though)

Obviously, the Queens car didn't work out. Now, I'm going tomorrow (last minute of course) to see another in Edison, NJ. It's at European Motorwerks, and I'd like to get some recommendations on who would be good to do the PPI. I don't think they'll let me go too far. I've reached out to some guys in my PCA, but I'm waiting to hear back.

Again, any input would be greatly appreciate.

regards, and thanks,

I've got a recomendation, but its about 45 minutes south of Edision and so may be out of the range that you are looking for - but, the shop is called Brothers and is in Medford, NJ. They did a nice job on a PPI for me about a year ago - really guided me away from the car based upon my situation and the condition of the car. I don't have the number handy right now, but can easily grab it for you if you are interested. Let me know.

Good luck.

Another recommendation that's under an hour away is Performance Plus in Oakland (up I287, exit 58). If you can get hold of a copy of Porscheforus (NNJR PCA mag), there will be several ads for shops in N. NJ that could be of use to you.

Best -

BodyMotion on Ocean NJ. 40 minutes or so from Edison.
Mike Bavaro, owner and PCA member, races porsches and has a very professionally run operation.
I brought my car there after my purchase for him to go thru with a fine tooth comb. he came back with a specific list of all problems / potential problems and had them arranged in order of severity. The report included a estimate of cost to fix. He takes to time to talk about the finding and answer any questions.
The bodymotion website is HERE

You could call Old Bridge Tire. They've been PCA and racing for years and are great guys. 732-679-6800--no relation, just a happy customer!

By the way, what are you looking at in Edison? I live in Edison, I may know the car.....

jsmarcus,

JBRipps is looking for me.

It is the 1987 944 at European Motorwerks.

Do you know if the car? If so, is it worth it? We know it is extemely overpriced and hopefully can get him down to a reasonable price.

Yup Bob and Jim Sentivan at Old Bridge tires are great guys!
Bob's 1984 Carrera Racecar had its original 3.4 liter engine swapped out for a 1995 3.6 993 at BodyMotion.
Not sure if they will / can do a full PPI at their shop but they would probably be able to recommend someone.

Hey all,

I've called Old Bridge Tire, and it seems that they'll be able to do the job for us. Also, they are definitely the closest to the shop.

thanks so much. Any further suggestions will certainly be considered. I want to thank everyone else for their suggestions, but Oakland and most of the others are just too far away from the seller.

regards,

Hey Josh,

Went and saw the car. Seller said he wouldn't take anything less then 7K, so we didn't even bother taking the time and $$ for a PPI. Car was in very nice shape, but the exterior had it's share of very noticeable dings and a small rust spot on the rear, and the interior was not as nice as anticipated. The dash was totally cracked, all over, and the seats were on the verge of splitting in a few areas. Car did start right up, but didn't take the time to drive.

Based upon the prices I've been seeing, 7K is way too high for an 87 944 n/a car with 100K miles. Maybe next time.

thanks again.
