Question HELP! Engine Starting!

After reinstalling my engine in my '76 912e I go to start it up it run for a sec then dies...I hear a sucking or blowing sound!?!?..I have checked all the hoses many times over and see nothing. Another problem I am having is one of my spark plugs keeps coming loose and now will not full get snug...it wiggles in place!?! What is wrong? Would this be the only reason my car will not start? Thanks

Sounds as if you have a air leak somewhere. It could be a hose or manifold air leak where something needs to be tightened up or maybe a cracked hose. Double check all your hoses and connections. If you get someone to crank it over you can stand over the engine and try to zero in on where the sounds is coming from. That would help to find the leak. As for the sprk plug that could also be part of the noise you're hearing too. Why is it loose? Has it been misthreaded?
