Red face Shipping costs for body Parts!

Haha!

I just made myself laugh with the Subject heading.

Anyway, I would like to know if anyone has had experience with shipping 911 Sheetmetal.
Primarily - fenders, a hood and RS bumper - Can this be done via UPS, if so what are the requirements for packaging and costs? any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated - this would be about a 500 Mile shipment.

If you want to save the most money, you will typically have to fabricate a box/container yourself, and ship it via a freight company that will ship "terminal to terminal". That means that you will have to drop it off at their closest location to you, and the receiver will have to pick it up at the closest location to them. I shipped a hood this way, and it was a LOT cheaper than going through UPS or FedEx. The company I used was called "Forward Air" and they have locations all over the US. I don't have their number handy, but they are probably listed in your local phone book. Or you call 411 and get their main number in Greenville, Tennessee.

Try Greyhound... you'll save tons of money.

Standard motor freight will also work. Packaging is very important. If you are doing the shipping, go to your local body shop and ask for the shipping containers they just threw in the trash from the the hood they replaced this morning. Chevrolet has the best boxes. Body parts are very easy to damage. The exception is undamaged parts.
