Door speaker removal 930

Hi all, I need to put new speakers in the doors of my '86 930. The system in the car is an older cassette "Nakamichi Mobile Tuner Deck 1." I have switched out many speakers but I was hoping these might be removed without pulling the door panel. The grills have little pin like nubs at two locations on the outside rim, maybe these allow the grill to come off? I was hoping that as with some speakers, once the grill is off you can unscrew the speakers and pull out the front. Any ideas??

Thanks,

Dave M.

I have an '82 SC so it may be slightly different, but I had to remove the door panel to remove mine. Unless, of course, a PO installed a set of unusual size speakers.

I have not done this in a while but I think you should be able to get the speakers out without removing the door trim. Mine (original setup) can be removed once you screw off the black grill & ring.
