Selling my car.
Anyone,
Please give me suggestions on selling my car. I have it priced the lowest in the Auto Trader. I also have it priced lower than any other comparable car that I have located across the U.S. I also live in a highly populated area. I have yet to receive a call about the car. Please copy and paste the below link in your browser to see the car. Cars for Sale: 1987 Porsche 911 Targa in San Diego, CA 92108: Coupe Details - 337791446 - AutoTrader.com Thank you, rgdalacrity |

My suggestion would be a $5 can of satin black spray paint and an hour spent applying it to that Targa bar.
It will make your car much, much more sellable. Second would be to immediately put the Fuchs back on, if you still have them. The only other suggestion would be to wait until Spring and try again. |

Gives new meaning to the term "high roller"
![]() Looks nice with Cup wheels. Good luck on the sale. Edit: by High Roller I meant to say that the car appears to be riding very very high on its suspension. It appears even higher than the US ride height, which was higher than Euro. You may want to lower the car and realign to give it a more purposeful stance...if you have the inclination and time, that is.

Also, unfortunately, the "custom white diamond" paint makes the car a "no go" for a large part of the current buying pool for these cars.
My guess is that it instantly eliminates 75% of potential buyers. So it'll take longer to find the right buyer. |

How long have you had it on the market?
Have you considered contracting a local classic car dealer to sell the car on consignment? Ebay is also an effective method to garner a large base of perspective buyers--I have sold two cars in this manner. I think the painted roll bar and the newer wheels, while not to everyone's taste, differentiate the car in a nice way. The pictures are nice too, but you can do better. Not all of us are photography experts including myself, try shooting the car in some different lighting situations and include more interior photos. GLWS! Be patient if you can, and remember selling cars takes a little work.

I'm going to be blunt because I don't have enough patience to be tactful. I apologize in advance.
I'll tell you the most glaring problem with that car. Your hood is badly misaligned. It is the first thing I noticed. That's a huge red flag for anyone wondering about accident history with this car. Obviously, there's some kind of history with that hood and 90% of the people who view your add are going to move on. The second biggest problem is that your pictures show the car poorly. You should take better pictures in better lighting to make the car look attractive. Make sure they are high resolution and CLOSE UP so that people can assess the condition of the thing. Far away pictures in bad lighting are completely useless. Third, the text of your add is poorly written and provides very little detail about what buyers want to know - condition and provenance. You mention modifications but you are very vague about what they are. That scares people away. It is full of spelling errors, grammatical errors and redundancy. A smartly written ad encourages responses. A poorly written one discourages them. A car ad is like a resume - your resume sells you to a potential employer. If it doesn't dazzle the employer, he'll throw it right in the trash and you'll never get a call. Make your ad dazzle the potential buyers and you'll get responses. |

Remove all the tacky ricer stuff and sell it all on eBay or in the Used Parts for sale section here, these include but are not limited to:
Shift knob Gauge rings Ignition switch surround Floormats 3.2 badge on engine grille Then adjust the hood, paint the targa bar black and sell the Cup Wheels and sell that poorly rewrapped steering wheel too. Buy good condition steering wheel, shift knob, floor mats and Fuchs wheels in O.E. sizes Detail the car inside and out and take better pictures.

Giving the car the correct stance would do wonders.
best of luck.

"serviced by various mechanics and DIY" is NOT a desirable attribute. I'd rather see an ad stating "regularly dealer serviced".
