993 Cup Wheels on '87 Carrara Track Tire Sizes, WTB Tires/Wheels

I’m getting ready to order some track tires, and I find that my 15” fuchs (7’s and 8’s) are not going to cut it for track tires unless I want to go Hoosier, and I am looking to spend more like Kumho ECSTA V700 . I do happen to have the stock wheels from a ’96 993 sitting around, and I can get the appropriate studs and spacers to fit those on the car. I was wondering what size tires I could mount on these, (7x17, 9x17) especially the fronts. I’m guessing that the rear can handle a 255/40/17 without too much problem. How about a 225/45/17 on the front?

If anyone has some tires sitting around to sell, now is the time to speak up! I’d even consider a tire and wheel purchase if the price was right…

Thanks in advance,

Chris Brown

You are going to ahve to use spacers for 993 wheels. Pretty sure....I did on my 83.

Race sanctioning bodies don't like them unless you use long studs and turbo spacers that slip over the long studs.....

The five lug to five lug cheapy spacers won't pass tech inspection....

I'm with you

Yup don't believe in cheapie spacers, thats why I mentioned "studs and spacers" in my message.

How did you like the fit on the '83 and what size studs and spacers did you use?

Thanks!!
