What to use to clean out fuel tank?
Car has been sitting for a while and the new fuel has turned to a sticky paste. I have removed the tank from the car and I'm trying to find the best product to use to rinse this gunk out of the tank. There doesnt appear to be any rust, just sticky gunk.
Thanks Rick

I don't know if you can get it where you are - but at AutoZone out here in SoCal they have a purple bottle of cleaner that also comes in a gallon (also purple) called Super Clean. It's the most amazing stuff I have ever used on gunk, grease, etc and does not leave a residue. It's awesome stuff and really goes at the hard-to-clean stuff - if you can get it put it in a tank - I used it in a Ducati motorcycle tank and it wiped the inside clean.

CountD,
We can get it and I keep a gallon on hand to keep my Polaris RZR clean. I agree the stuff is amazing . I was thinking about that or two other products called Greased Lighting or Simple Green, both of which do about the same job. I just wasnt sure if they would be safe to use in the tank. I guess I could use one of these products to clean it , then rinse it out with a gallon of clean non ethanol fuel. Thanks Rick
