Hi there
I got just the same sounds when I had moisture build up in my engine. This resulted in some corrosion on one of the tensioner pistons. This made the piston travel inconsistently, making a good tension of the chain impossible.

In your case, I would check for similar things. I'm thinking that maybe you have a clogged pressure outlet on one of the tensioners.

So maybe a removal of the tensioners for inspection is a good idea?
