Extended Jack-up'd period
What a title right!
I'm replacing my cv joints and boots and doing some other odds and ends under the car, so I will need to leave my car up for several weeks. Any problems leaving it jacked up at this angle for a month or so? Just curious where the oil might be settling. Also, any problems leaving the trailing arm dangling like this? The shock is not attached, just don't know if I'm putting stress on the torsion bar.

I have left my car up in the air for weeks at a time with no ill effects. I don't know the answer to your question regarding the disconnected shocks.
Many people lift their 911 by the sump plate area, but I won't do it. I use a piece of wood and lift the car by the transmission cross-member. I have done so at least a dozen times with no problems.

My car was held up by the torsion tubes for several months during the engine swap project.
Letting the banana arm dangle has about zero stress. Far less stress than hard cornering at a track day, or even a trip to the grocery store. |

Bump. Anyone else have thoughts on this? Especially with the swing arms dangling?
Thanks! |

You will be ok, but if you are very paranoid, just put the tires back on and lower the car down.

I don't see any problem, but I'm no expert. If there is any doubt in "your" mind, use your floor jack to raise each rotor then place a block of wood (or something) under for support.

One more thing imo...throw your dismounted tires/wheels under tub for "backup" in case a jackstand should fail. I wouldn't leave pressure on my floor jack like that for any extended amount of time.

It looks like the jackstands are in the right place, I assume the floor jack is just there for a back up. I always leave my floor jack under the sump plate as a back up too. I just relieve it a bit.
If you are worried about the trailing arms dangling. You can use the floor jack to jack them up and just place some blocks under them or a couple of buckets or something, then put the jack back under the sump plate as a back up. You'll be fine. |
