SSI vs headers

The hunt for a little heat and defrost continues. I have some experienced Porsche friends telling me to just go to SSI exhaust. So the question.

I have European headers 1 1/2" dia on my 3.0L. These are really great headers and were on the engine after the build and 30+ pulls on the engine dyno. Are the SSI's also equal length? Will I still have the basic equal length that my headers have? I'm sure they will be a little heavier but heat would be nice.

Not sure about a comparison but the SSI's with backdated heat on my Targa put out plenty of heat and I only have the passanger side working.

D/S cable snapped a few years back:(

Last week the temps were in the twentys and I was fine wearing a light jacket.

Yes, SSI are equal length headers, if you strip the heater box off they look just like George's headers and are the same size 1 1/2" OD/1 3/8" ID, main difference is the material and heater box sheath

For what it's worth, my '74 911 is an example of backdated heat. If I were to leave it on, set to full heat, my shoes would be melting in short order.

That said, I'm considering adding a fan (updating I suppose). Not for more heat but because if you have any oil leaks, as I do, it tends to send a burning oil smell into the cabin. The fan setup does not use air that has passed over the cylinders but uses fresh air from the engine compartment.

Thanks Bill that's what I wanted to know. I'll be trading for the SSI's next week when I get home.
