HELP! 6 pole kill switch negative set up ????

I bought a 6 pole kill switch from Rennline and would like to do a negative set up. I cant find anything in the forum on how this is done. Does anyone know how to do this? Is there a way to come off the fuse box for the ignition to coil switch. A pitcure is worth a 1000 words. Thanks

What do you mean by "negative setup"? You should use the switch to break the positive side. That's how it is designed.

Porsche cup cars use the negative side for the kill. Its safer to disconnect the negative terminals and easier to install. The guys at Rennline do it this way too.

No, it is not safer. You should not kill power by breaking the ground connection. The link I posted has the correct and proper information.

There is a reason you can't find a way to do it the way you want to do it.......

These switches, manufactured by Autolec, have been around for decades and used on most of the competition cars in the UK.

I have never seen them wired to the negative side of the battery for what I think are obvious reasons.

They are now being superceded by a range of electronic push button devices due to a basic unreliability.

In my experience they fails after a few years use but if you can avoid running the full load/current from the battery to the starter through the master switch itself as the high current flowing when you crank the the engine the main contacts will have a longer life.

Chris,

The 6-pole kill switches manufactured by Rudolf Brüggemann Fahrzeugelektrik in Germany don't seem to have the same issues as those made by Autolec.

The implementation used in this link is not good. The engine could run on for a while. The "2" or "Z" circuit needs to stop the engine immediately when interrupted.

OK , according to the Pegasus instructions " Locate the main power wire from the ignition switch to the ignition coil. Cut this wire and install a 1⁄4" female spade
terminal on each cut end. Install one end on one of the "Z" contacts and the other end on the other "Z" contact."

Where exactly is that main power wire/ where best to cut? Thanks!

It depends on your model year. I spent hours poring over the Bentley wiring diagrams until I finally found the correct wire. For my 84 Carrera it was the red wire with the black stripe coming out of the top of the #7 fuse in the #1 section of the fuse panel. No cutting necessary, just disconnect and splice. And test before and after, of course.
