So how do you remove gauge needles?

Who has successfully removed the pointer needle off an SC tachometer without breaking anything? How? Mine doesn't feel like it's going to come off with a happy ending...

There was a special litle tool that came with my white gauge kit. A small pry bar. It worked really well. It has a notch in it to grab both sides of the needle. It waas tight but came off without breaking anything.

Good luck

I think there was a tech artical somewhere that said a fork was used instead of the special tool.

I used that special tool and it broke my needle and my tacho no longer works, even after I glues the needle back together. I don't know what the trick is, except for maybe work the tool all around and pull up evenly from opposite sides.

Hi Rob,

This is an easy tool to make...and will remove your needles with no problem.

Find a bottle opener the kind that is made out stamped sheet metal. Bottle opener on one end and the pointed can opener on the other.
Put the opener in a vise with the bottle cap remover facing up
take a hack saw and cut a slot about 1/8 of an inch long.
After your done slide it under you needle and pry up.. Done!

Good Luck Jorge (Targa Dude)
