cover for fog light switch?

I removed the fog lights on my car, because I finde them useless and I prefer the clean look without the lights hanging out under my front bumper, I also removed most of the wires and the switch and now I have a hole in my dash trim:

Is there a plug available or do I have to start my 3D printer?
How did you fix this problem?

Thanks for your help

Sounds like a self imposed ‘problem’. If you don’t like the lights great but there is no need to remove the switch since any solution will look kluged.

Hardware stores carry various sizes of plastic plugs in black. You may luck out and find one that actually fits.

I’d keep the switch for some other function... :two cents:

Good suggestion. I’ve got a few Hillman brand plugs from Lowe’s here and there, but you’re right that anything will look like a plug or a patch short of starting over with a new lower dash panel. I’d fill that gap with something functional - a second lighter port or a flat indicator light for something else.

I am a bit surprised that no one else ever did run into this problem before.

I did a quick 3D print

I know it is the wrong colour but it was just to check the dimensions since the dash trim is not even. And I will add a thread at the back so it can be screwed in from the front.

I now have to find out a way to replicate the texture of the dash trim

my folks bought a 69 bug new and when I was a kid I loved to press the (B) button on the dash and watch it illuminate in red. my merm said when I was a boy it was her "push to pass" button. she was always ahead of her time....

My fog switch has new life activating oil cooler fan. Could you just reinstall the switch but not wire it?

Seems our host, or at least new management, blocks informational links again. One of the above is available from Pelican, Stoddard offers the others.

That's what I would do too. Keeps it looking original.

And if some annoying female in the passenger seat keeps asking what that switch does, tell her it's for the ejector seat.

Happy to report I can help!!! The same plug that covers the center of the round door lock knob fits that hole perfectly.

I've pondered this a bit, and decided...I'd wire it to a garage door opener.

thanks for all your suggestions. I already have a USB port in my center console.
@Synchro Joe - unfortunately I can not open your links, but I did search the sites you recommended, the Stoddard plug seems like the correct thing but I couldn't find a picture of it installed.

so I 3D printed a plug myself:

It is quite hard to replicate the texture of the dash board
what do you think?

dash insert

Looks good

what was the actual measurement of the hole?..Its such a great place to put in a voltmeter (I installed a bracket to bottom of ashtray for my 2.25" dial)

My issue would be getting the switch out since I have a amp installed under the radio and getting to the back of the switch is a PITA..did you go through frunck to remove?
