Help with headers
Hello Pelicanites:
I have a 3.0 with SSI's currently. I have been looking for headers to gain a bit more performance. I have found a set of headers for a reasonable price but I have noticed that they don't have the normal bend found in most headers I have seen on this site. I was wondering if anyone could give me their expert analysis and let me know if this is A-Ok or not with the Porsche community. Thank you ahead of time for any information. I thought SSI's were equal length headers? You could tinsnip...
|
From what I've read there's a power difference between the two. Is it because of the diameter of the headers vs ssi? If not, is the only difference the weight gain/loss? Not to mention the loss of heat

What you have pictured will not fit a Porsche flat six. Those header look like they fit a domestic V6
|
thanks for the input...the seller claimed they came off of a porsche...maybe a 944?

Is there a part # stamped on? |
seller hasn't responded but i'm assuming with a flag like that in the background he might know their origin
|
Those kind of look like some variety of 996 or Boxster headers.
|
You will miss having heat and defrost, even if you are only racing the car.
|
Unless your 3.0 is making 260 or more hp SSIs are about as good as any header and they have heat. What you have pictured (even if they fit) look like junk.

Stick with ur SSI's
|
They look like Boxster headers. ...and they're not equal length headers, which the SSIs are.
Stick with SSIs and get a free flowing muffler for more power. |
Those are stock exhaust monifolds from an early 97-99 Boxster. Most people yank then off for a proper header for more power, so they're no good for your application. A knowledgable Porsche person would have known the difference between an air cooled SC 3.0 liter engine and a water cooled 2.5 L engine. Oh, and anyone can hang a flag in the background.
