Post 1977 gauges into a 1969 'T'

Hi all

Can anyone who knows these things tell me how different the 1977 gauges for oil pressure /oil temperature gauge and oil level/fuel tank gauge are to those available in 1969.

I don't have the picture books I have at home handy and thought it would be nice for quiz.

Thanks.

The obvious initial difference the lack of chrome "dot" in the middle of the later gauge. To the best of my knowledge they are the same size as far as fitting into the dash goes. Some earlier cars (like mine) also have gauges held in by brackets whilst the later are held in with rubber seals. You’d also want to check the compatibility of any existing sending units

Cam? You're thinking of upgrading your T gauges? If so, I'd suggest a switch to S gauges except for the tach. More info from the dash readings is always a good thing.

Thanks guys. I will keep looking until I find the right gauges. No chrome "dot" would be very annoying and I checked up in the guide to originality books I have at home and from '77 the gauge is as Roland describes.

So I will be patient. I just hate driving and not knowing my oil pressure... it gives peace of mind when it is there.

PWD - yeah, I want to upgrade to the 's' instument package, in effect. I will get there in time.
