Recommendation for an Upholstery shop in San Diego

For those of you that may need it soon-----

I just had a new rear window put in my cab, a couple of new pieces that needed replaced behind the doors and a roof piece that was coming loose and finally a new boot to cover the top while down (tonneau cover for you purists).

Not the cheapest, but came highly recommended by our two local Porsche dealers. OB Upholstery in Ocean Beach (duh)--owner's name is Chuck who will personally go over all your issues. Place has been around since the 40's, Chuck has owned it since 1966.

Did awesome workwith genuine fabric for a fair price, and very fast (back on the road in 2 days).

Also worth mentioning, check out the garage, as it is virtually a museum of cars being worked on, old porsches, vettes, mercedes, yada, yada.

Thanks for the info stone43. I am in the market for some new leather seats and was looking for a good store in San Diego. See you one I-5, or I-15, or I-8....

How much do you think OB would charge to recover the seats. I have heard that Autos Intl in Escondido do concours quality work but at similar prices.

OB Upholstery has been around for a long time. I've heard some plusses & some minuses over the years. They advertise in the Windblown Witness.

Porsche Crest

In the San Diego area, I would either go to Chuck Lindsay (Ocean Beach, 619.223.9797), or Jim Haugland (Jim's Auto Upholstery, 619.268.8531).

Gblumenstock,

Best thing to do is take it in, have them look at it and Chuck will write up a quote. Prices depend upon materials used (leather/vinyl), hours to do the job, etc.

The other 2 places that were recommended I have heard of, Jim's in particular I heard was cheaper. I went the quality route on this one and am satisfied.
