930 spoiler with Carrera Rubber Lip
Recently purschased a spoiler off ebay it appears genuine and looks exactly the same as a carrera spoiler. The body of the spoiler is part number 930512023.00 manufactured by FIBRON 2194.1.00 and appears manufactured in 1983 from the date moulding.
It is fitted with rubber lip 911.512.091.00 which is definately a 911 carrera rubber lip and the fit is perfect. Obviously a 930 part were these identical to the genuine 911 carrera 3.2 spoiler. I have an 84 carrera. Were these parts interchangeable it doesn't look like its been modified it looks perfect and the rubber lip fit is perfectly flush against the spoiler. Is it possible this part was used on early Carrera's I know the 84 89 carrera tail has a different part number but not sure if they were inter chageable. here are the pics ![]() ![]() Last edited by ozracer; 01-21-2013 at 02:37 AM.. |

Judging by the picture it looks like the rear spoiler on my '86 Carrera Cab. I don't know the part number though.

Interesting. The 1989 catalog shows what you're describing...that's a turbo/M491 tail with a Carrera (M473) "spoiler rim." The catalog doesn't indicate that they're interchangable.
I have the M473 front / rear spoiler pair. I always assumed that the M491 tail wouldn't fit on my Carrera decklid, or at that the M473 tail wouldn't fit over an intercooler (if I had one). Dave

I have an early turbo spoiler that has the tea tray turbo lip on it where as it should have the carrera lip so I think the answer is yes, the rubber is interchangeable. The only hitch I see is the bolt pattern may be slightly different for the bolts that run across the back of the wing. I'm not an expert though. I have another thread on the wing I have with posts from 1/20. There are a few good links.

Hard to tell from the photos, but that doesn't look like a turbo tail base to me. Without the rubber lip, they look kind of like the duck in profile.
The turbo tea-tray lip definitely has different bolts/holes to the Carrera lip - or, at least, the two examples I own do: Carrera tail rubber on a turbo whale tail base

I've had both factory tails, sold both on Pelican. I believe the fiberglass tail/tray part is the same and can use either the 930 or Carrera rubber. BTW yours looks nice.

Both the turbo and Carrera base seem very different from each other. The turbo's is much larger to enclose the intercooler, where the Carrera's doesn't need to do that. I have no idea whether the rubber lips are interchangeable, however. A couple pics to illustrate...

So what you are saying is the vented area or louvered section is a lot flatter on a carrera not withstanding they look very similar.

The carrera and later turbo tea tray rubber lips differ in bolt pattern and side profile. While you MAY simply drill additional holes in the base to accomdate the alternative lip, the lip will not line up with the base. My body man spent dozens of hours on my turbo tail to get an almost factor fit. Note that I am using a DP extended tail that was made to fit a tea tray type lip...

rsrfan,
That was quick! I read an old post where you were going to shorten the front air dam and install a rubber lip. It looks perfect, just wondering if you still plan to do that. Thanks |

The valance has been at the body shop for months. Kevin is great but slow lately with the shop move. Hoping to have the car back together in the next few weeks and will post a thread accordingly...
Sorry for the thread hijack
