Cat by-pass pipe question
What effects on the fuel system (80 3.0 cis stock) will removing a clogged cat and installing a bypass pipe?
Will i have to readjust my mixture? What about using my gunsen gas tester, originally you tested an 80 before the cat, since it is gone can I now test at the muffler? and will the mixture setting remain the same? Thanks Peter |
There will be no effect, except that your car will have better power.
Check your mixture at the tailpipe. Now that your cat is gone disconnect the oxygen sensor and make it 3.0-3.5% CO. This setting improves torque but chews into your milage a little bit. The old .5% CO value that is spece'd so the cat will function and fuel milage is a good as it can be but the car will be a lot more fun to drive at the higher value. |
I changed my cat for the pipe about a year ago.
I did not notice any change except for better sound ran cooler and got better gas mileage. :D |
