I wish I could go! I usually don't get home till 4 am on Fridays and Saturdays I have to be back to the pub around noon. It's always been my hope to bring a Sunday meet up to the pub for a bier and some Porsche chit chat. Thoughts?

Congratulations and 'welcome' to the 'cuckoos's nest'. You will never be the same, and what the heck, a little insanity can be a good thing. I got my first Porsche when I was 32, and I still have 'her'. I have had several others over the years but kept the first one. Next year (14) it will be 40 years old, and we still drive it on the track in DE events.
My current project is a 74 911 that I have made into 'my car'. It is my idea of what one should be, and is not restored. Basically the only part the is 74 is the unit body. Re seats, I bought a set of black leather seats which are from a 95 and are all electric. They are not sport seats but are the nicest seats for entry and exit and for driving for short of long trips I have found. I went the aftermarket route, but for me at least, this was the right choice. The drivers seat is 8 way adjustable. They are the only modern amenity in the car. Good luck to you and drive your car a lot. Do not make it into a garage queen. I intend to drive mine a lot (but here in Illinois, once the salt trucks come out, my Porsches go in the garage) and my car until the salt goes away is a Suburban. Regarding the seats, my suggestion would be to use a pair of Porsche sport seats. I like the ones that were used up through 1980, which would be the correct ones for your car, anyway.

Congratulations - beautiful car and great story. I have had a '79 SC for one summer, and I know you will have a great summer coming up with your car.

Great looking SC. Excellent color too. Good luck with the new disease it is known to be crippling and extremely resisitant...ask my wife.

Congrats to you and to your car! Love the color combo, and as others have said concerning the seats; go with a later model Porsche power seat. Very comfortable and still fit the cars look.

Nice car! I think I was in the running to buy it two years ago. If you're like most of us here you'll consider your 911 the best money you've ever spent.

He mentioned that he is a tall guy, so this might not be a good choice. The power seats sat higher. They lowered the seat rails in the later cars to counter this, which would be a lot of work for him to do.

Beautiful car, and love the Minerva Blue with chrome trim! A tip for early SC owners: there is a pin that must be removed before you can drop the clutch arm to replace the Omega spring. Only the Haynes manual addresses this - go figure!

Yup, you’ll see Mina outside often there. Come in sometime I love talking Porsches. That’s an invite to everyone in the area or traveling through.

I think this is the way I am going to go, manual Porsche sport seats (they made manual sport seats right?), but before I start the search I want to go talk to Steve from Rennsport and see what he suggests as far as an aftermarket seat. The biggest thing about keeping them period specific is that I can sell the seats I have in there now, install some period specific Porsche sport seats and if by chance one day I need (its not going to be a want thing) to sell her she’ll still be correct and I wont have to store seats in my already tiny garage.

Yes! I see them driving around and I’m still gawking at them. Once my one car garage becomes a two car garage I’ll certainly be more prepared to add a 2002 to the family.

Thank you for not buying her. I have a bit of service records for her but nothing from 1991-2003. If you did any research while contemplating buying her I’d love to learn a little more about her history.

Yeah I don’t want to weld or cut or molest anything out of originality.
