Question Where is the factory alarm horn?

Hi. This is my very first post.
I have an 85 Carrera and I am pretty sure the factory alarm works but the alarm horn does not. When the alarm is armed I can hear the alarm relay clicking for about 30 seconds and then it stops, but there is no siren or horn noise. I have pulled the fresh air blower out to get at the alarm module and checked the resistance on the wire going to the horn and it is open circuit. So I am thinking the horn is either disconnected or toast.

Could anyone tell me where the horn is in my car? I have searched the previous posts and have found this description:

"The alarm horn is concealed beneath (above ?) the metal cover which covers the steering box (the cover with the four allen-head screws). The theory is that theives can't find it, must remove the cover to get to the horn, and thus you are safe."

I can't find this cover. For some reason I have become obsessed with getting this alarm to work.

Thanks in advance for your help.

rraynman,

The cover is accessed from below. Depending on your ride height, put the front end up on jack stands. Then get your favorite creeper and roll on under. If you don't jack up the car, forget the creeper. The cover sits just aft of the gas tank and forward of the floor pan. It covers the steering rack, tie rods and sway bar. Remove the 4 allen head bolts and the alarm horn should be tucked in against the cross member, towards the rear of the car if I remember correctly.

Have fun.

Thanks!!
For some reason the wires to the horn were disconnected. Once I connected them the horn started to work.
