Oil Druck Sender Question

'88 Carrera - Oil Pressure has always been a bit high/pegged in the year that I have owned the car. Read some threads about cleaning up the connectors for possible improvement. Sender replacement seems like no picnic, but will consider it the next time the engine is out for a clutch update.

My question: There is a cap/connector on top of the sender wiring. Cap simply unscrews, but the bottom of the connector seems to be clipped in place and one set of hands seems insufficent to move it/remove it. Cap has a part number of 009 545 14 28, which I have found on M-B tech forums, but no luck with a diagram of the connector or instuctions for removal. Bentley doesn't address the cap/connector at all. Pictured above - how can I remove/move the bottom of the connector to get access to the wiring on the top of the sender?

Thanks much

I don't think it comes off that way. looks like you've separated the 2 pieces, leaving the lower 1/2 still attached.

Mine just pulls straight up and off,..leaving a single male connector attached to the sender itself.

Doyle is correct. This is a problem area with these cars, and the usual solution is to cut the wire and splice a female butt connector. Your sensor should have a male butt (or "stud"). Gently pry off the female wire end from the sensor male end.

Aaahhhh, that makes sense. Thanks for the help. Just didn't want to damage the sender fiddling with a $.50 part.
