Unobtanium Bosch Alternator Pulley Nut M16 x 1.0

Hey all - changed the fan belt on my 1977 911S this past weekend and as I was tightening down the pulley nut it cut loose - pulled it off and noticed the threads are stripped out. No problem, right? Called every hardware store and fastener specialist in town to no avail and Sunset Porsche who informed me that part is NLA and Pelican lists it as NLA. Any ideas on where to source this nut? M16 x 1.00 (superfine) - I am now w/o use of my car in the Oregon winter monsoons - any help is appreciated.

TIA -

Did you try parkrose hardware?

If you don't find one just re-thread the shaft for 5/8th's. It's not "Porsche original" but it works very well.

pep boys

i found a nut at pep boys that is used for a japenese all joint or some front end component that matches the thread until you get an original.

Bought mine (901.603.905.00) at Zims:

You guys are awesome - thanks for all the replies, ideas and sources.

SchnellS - Parkrose was one of my first attempts - and they did not have it, Ace h/w, Winks, Discount Import, Always Vdub, etc - no go.

John - SASE and some "lunch" money is on its way.

Cheers to all and thanks again!

If its any use I have a 16x1.0mm tap, and would be happy to rethread a smaller nut or similar if you end up really stuck, but sounds like its all sorted anyway.
Cheers

is this nut 32mm across the flats ?

I'm going to order one from Zim's.

thanks!

The "original" is 22mm across (the one that I am replacing) - the wrench for this is included in the tool kit that came with my car. However, I believe the "newer" version of the M16x1.00 is now 24mm across. Not sure which one Zim's has and their description (from the link provided by 74metblue) does not provide that info. Now that I've had this experience I plan to carry an "extra" in the tool kit - definitely a showstopper if one has the misfortune to encounter this during a roadside repair. (As well as carrying an extra fan belt).

This is why the earlier engines in the swb are superior in design:)

.... because if you get stuck then a wheel nut reversed will fit just fine!
