Vacuum Sound?

Hello,

Replaced my ignition cables today and my car is running great "however" now when I step on the throttle I can hear a kind of "whistle" as I accelerate. It is similar to the sound a turbo (on a diesel truck) makes when accelerating. There is no hesitation or anything, it accelerates good.

Is this normal? If not how can I fix.

Cheers

Look at the oil cap and seal. Maybe take the cap off and see if the noise goes away.

Could be a vacuum leak. You may have knocked something loose when manipulating the ignition wires. Retrace your steps in and around the areas where you were working. CIS airbox boots were loose after some work I did and I heard a whistle change in pitch with Rev of the engine. good luck.

That may actually help confirm a separate vacuum leak. If you "cause" a leak by removing the oil cap there would be less vacuum getting sucked through the noise making orifice.

Never tried running the car with the oil cap off though. It should idle slower and a at lower RPMs with cap off.

If it's your 82 - check the connections to the space ship thingies on the passenger side of engine compartment as well as the aux air regulator.
