Post Porsche Aero Mirrors?

All,

What is the best place to buy a pair or Manual Porsche Aero Style Mirrors? I have priced the pair at $331.95 from AJUSA and $330.95 from Perf. Prods. Thanks for any input.

Just about every 964 in the UK has these aero mirrors which leads me to beleive that they are reasonably priced over there.
Plus the Dollar/Sterling exchange rate is very favourable at the moment. So you may want to search some English sites.
Sorry but do not know any off hand!.
Anybody?

William
Try the used parts dealers like PAP, Partsheaven, DC automotive, swap meets, Dan Pechtel, etc. Back of Pano and Excellence usually has these ads. I picked up a pair for less than $100, painted for same and they look great. Let me know if you need their numbers, I can get them from home.

Are the aero mirrors the same ones that came on the 993? I found an ad in the latest Excellence issue from a company that advertised "manual 993 aero mirrors" for around $250.

Will the following mirrors work on my 1973 911 T?

http://www.betterbodiesmotorsport.com/homefr.html

I have new doorskins, so I don't mind drilling, but I want to make sure that the access holes for the bolts will line up. Has anyone performed this mod? Thanks.

The link didn't work correctly...You have to click on "accessories" on the left side, then "993 Factory OEM Manual and Elec Mirrors". The mirrors are listed as follows:

Accessories Aero Mirrors Kit

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aero Mirrors Kit.
Are an OEM product available in manual or electrical, wich will fit same mounting holes on 911's: 1974 thru 1994.

Manual $265.00 / set

Electric $365.00 / set

Still hoping to find out if the aero mirror kit requires any mod to fit a 1973 911...

William, sounds like you may be the trailblazer on this one. I don't remember seeing any cars with this done.

I am just concerned that I am going to buy these aero mirrors for my 73 911 and the attachment bolts are not going to be accessible through the two stock bolt holes on each of my door frames. I don't mind drilling the holes in the new door skins that I just put on, but I would like to be able to properly secure the new mirrors through the stock door frame holes. Does anyone know if the door frames changed at all after the 1973 911 model? If so, when?

After talking to Cole Scrogham at G&W through e-mail, he sent me the following response to my question as to whether late model "993 aero mirrors" would work on my 1973 911 T without modification:

"The mirrors will follow the original contour, you will have to drill some
holes in the door as the mirror is located by 3 "pegs." There is a novel
little tightening clamp that allows you to attach the mirror from the
outside by using a small allen key. All of the holes are covered by the
mirror base, but you should find a 993 door (left and right as the mounting
holes are not in the same location) to make a template."

I'm glad that is settled. I am planning to order a pair from BetterBodies Motorsport(less than $300 for the manual pair) within the week. I'll let everyone know how the conversion goes.
