1985 911 transmission code

Hi guys.

I'm asking you for a quick one about transmission and color codes.

Here : I went to see a very nice 1985 Targa (California car imported in Canada a few years ago). This 911 was very nice and well documented. Thus, I was able to check if it's all ''matching number'', something important to me. So everything looked perfect except for two things :
1- the transmission code on the data sticker (option sticker) was 91568, but I expected to see 91570...
2- the color code was L999 on the sticker, but was ok on the plate in the front trunk (673).

Can anyone tell me what's up with that ?

1.) My Bentley (far from 100% reliable on this type of thing) gives both 915/68 and 915/70 as correct for US/Japan in '84 model year. It shows 915/73 for US in '85-86. But even if Bentley is correct, I wouldn't be too surprised at all to find a supposedly '84 transaxle in an '85, especially if it was an early build date '85.

2.) I seem to recall that L999 is paint-to-sample or special color (maybe a color offered in a prior year, but not in '85).

The one I saw this morning is indeed an early 1985 model, built in late 1984. I think Porsche used what they already had on the shelves first... For the color L999 code, it doesn't bother me. I saw on the web other data stickers with that 999 code, looks normal, for Porsche at least...

+1, L999 is a paint to sample code.
673 should be Marble Gray, standard exterior color for '85
