911 fuse panel question

I'm trying to get some gremlins out of the electrical system and thus rferred to the factory manual.
My 911 is a 1971 and when looking in the manual it shows 2 panels of 8 curcits each. My car has a 10 curciit on top and 8 below total 18 fuses not `16 as per factory manual.

Which is right?

If 16 is correct where can I find the layout for the fuses and colour of wires.

Can't answer your fuse question but is that battery really laying on its side?

That is correct, I have posted the labels I used for my 1972 at this Drop Box link, first time I have tried to do this so tell me if you can download the pdf, or not.

10 and 8 is right.

Pelican has the electrical diagrams for the 71 911.

It shows a 10 position and an 8 position.

Here's a jpeg of what I've got on a '73.... s/b? very similar. The color codes match the diagrams I have - but.... PM me if you need more files. I'm currently updating my fuse panel and everything is apart.

Thanks for the replays, will certainly make things easier to figure out.

Yes the battery is on it's side, it's a dry cell Odyssey.

Porboynz link worked fine. Download was no problem and very helpful.
Thanks

Upwardr:

Here is the 70/71 information. A thread about 9 months ago showed where "reproduction": labels for the inside of the fuse covers can be obtained. I'll do a search and see if I can resurrect the information.

Upwardr:

I found the thread. Do a search on fuse + labels. the thread "Fuse Box Labels" (including 70/71) is the sixth down on the list - at least it was 10 minutes ago. Good Luck.

upwardr.... your car doesn't have a/c or fog lights?

thanks,

upwardr 02-07-2013 07:50 PM

Allen Thanks, with all ths info I hope to be able to clear up some malfunctioning items.

Targa No, car had AC but was afternarket added later since it was not on the COA. It does not have fogs as per the CoA but the wires are there and I hope to add some though the grill lights.

Replacement fuse panels

For those interested, I have a panel for the 69-71 cars now going thru "beta testing". Once a couple of details are worked out, I will be able to provide fuse panels that use the ATO type fuses for the earlier cars. The vertical orientation and panel measurements are what kept me from building one earlier. I have had a number of requests from owners of these years cars and have wanted to be able to address this part of the market.

Larry:

When I copied in the fuse panel data I missed the last line, which defines the 25 amp fuse as being blue in color.
