Is there any other kind of rear spoiler that you can put on a Cab...other than one of those huge & ugly whale tails?
(the ones that just dont look right on a Cab, IMO)

Seriously...what is the other option...duck fin?

A motorized 964 tail would work.

Great looking cab, BTW. Love the color.

You can put virtually any 911 tail on our cars, Duck, Whale, turbo, Carrera, even the motorized 964 tail, if you go with the 964 tail then it is motorized and on a switch, not automatic as on a 964.

Carrera tails -- some on cabs
Show me your Carrera Tails, Please

Several tails including the early turbo/whale tail (not the later turbo tail) and the duck tail.
Tail or no Tail?

What happens to the bumper bar in front when you install the spoiler?

My chin spoiler fit right around the bumper bar. I think the bumper bar provides a bit of stability to the spoiler?

My bumper bar is about 1/2" behind the chin spoiler and does a good job of protecting the front a/c condensor.

Looks good. How long did it take? This is my weekend project.

Did you use templates to mark the side valence holes?

Any tips to impart before I get started?

XLR8,

Looks great! I agree with Island, a 964 motorized tail looks great on a cab.

Every time I see your pelican name it reminds me of my highschool driver's ed teacher. When getting on the expressway he would yell XLR8 HAUS, XLR8!!! And when myself and my brother were driving he would follow it with EASE UP HAUS EASE UP!!! It was a Chevy Citation so there was a looooonnnnngg pause inbetween those two comments. Oh the memories, but I digress...

Looks great!!!

Thanks for the compliments, I'm planning on using a Carrera style wing, hopefully it will be arriving soon.
I used a mounting kit, it is convenient, but you could make your own if you wanted.
I took my time measuring, etc., and finished in about 3 1/2 hours.
The bar protects the condenser, I had to remove it during installation but reinstalled it afterwards. The condenser leaves very little room for tightening the spoiler mounting nuts. It might be easier to remove the valence if you have an A/C condenser up there. I jacked up the front and supported with jack stands, but did not remove the wheels. I used a Makita right angle drill, so I did not have to jack very high.
The paint is Felsengruen Metallic, a special order during 87-88.

And one could also argue that it ties the front a-arms together for an extra touch of rigidity to the front pan, and provides some additional protection as well. I wouldn't be so quick to ditch it...

One would argue that, but it's too woosy a bar to provide much of any rigidity.

Pick one up sometime. A strong guy could bend it.

BTW: took my condensor out, so that's why the bar went too.

The whaletails only look good if you have the rear end to back up the statement.

I didn't think a chin spoiler would work with that bumper/condenser bar, but if it will, hmmm........

I love the look of the chin spoiler.....Really gives the car a more aggressive, dimensional look......
