Machine shop resource?

Has anyone got a machine shop that has machined a standard 1972 oil console to use the oil thermostat for a front cooler?

Plenty of machine shops around, but I'd like to use one that has done this task a few times.

Have you contacted Engine Machine Service in Inglewood/LAX? Dan or Bill are cool cats, they will tell yeah who can if they can't.

I'll check with them. I've had them do a lot of work for me over the years, but mostly case & heads.

EMS has never done this particular conversion. Anyone know of a shop that has?

Check with Chuck Moreland since it appears he's provided this service before?

Elephant can do it and ultrasonic cleaning as well, you don't want any metal bits floating around.

Saw your PM to me this morning...and then came across this post thereafter.

Chuck Moreland of Elephant Racing does this service, and would be a good resource to contact for your particular job.
He "walked" me through the entire modification procedure, which iwas a relatively-straightforward job.

The machining required is pretty basic...measure the thermostat diameter...open up the inner diameter of the oil console...ultrasonically clean the console to remove all of the metal shavings.

I am very sure that any good machinist worth his salt can do this job for you.

Another would be:

Tel# 310-643-8540

I've used these guys for decades.

Your requirements are very basic.

Good luck,

Gerry
