Converting a '79 coupe to manual regulators?
 

I'm helping a buddy that wants to convert his '79 coupe from electric to manual windows. We have 2 sets of 'parallel' style regulators, one pair came out of a '71 coupe, the other set came out of a '74 Targa. I have the '71 doors to take other parts from, window channels, ect. Will the older 'parallel' style just bolt in, or what exactly is needed to do the job?

The targa parts won't fit the coupe door. Check out the PET or the parts section here at Pelican and you will see different part numbers for targa/cab and coupe window regulators

The targa/cab regulators have a stop bracket welded to them, to allow you to limit the window travel. The older coupe regulators should work. You might double check the part numbers to make sure nothing changed between the two years. I'm not aware of any differences, but you know Porsche...

I happen to have a set of coupe parallel arm regulators for sale in the classifieds at this very moment, if for some reason you find yourself wanting something different from what you have.

I would take javadog up on his items if they are standard SC regulators (they improved these, BTW, in later models - some mods required). No financial interest, etc., just see misery in attempting this Tower of Babble of Porsche regulators. If he can provide SC manual regulators (clean and grease them well!) you will save yourself a world of hurt.

I don't know if mine are from an early SC, or a mid-'70's car. I'm not aware of any differences. The later style arms require some modifications to be made to install them and you also have to change the support channel on the bottom of the glass.
