Organizing a swap meet?
I am considering organizing a swap meet in central Texas.
What all is involved? I have never considered it before. I have a need to sell some parts and buy some parts. I grew up around them, swapping with my Dad. There is a swap in Dfw at Zims that is specific to German parts but I can't think of any others in the area. I think they build a good sense of community and provide a venue aside from the forums for buying and selling to support the hobby. Shipping seems to be getting so expensive just looking to go back to basics. Any thoughts (constructive) are welcome. John

Find a venue. One with a bathroom is nice. Advertise. Rent space to sellers. Advertise. Hope for nice weather.

Once you get a good venue then next thing is bodies (AKA - Volunteers ) to help with setup, spot sales, coffee/donuts/hot dogs (will not a necessity it makes it an "event" with proceeds to a charity).
Get in touch with your local PCA region and let them know that you will chair the event - they will help with volunteers and advertising. We used to have 4 swaps here in the SF Bay Area. We are down to one - the PartHeaven swap. It's consistently a great event - well setup with lots of people (both sellers and buyer). I look forward to attending - there are friends I see only once a year ant this event.
