An introduction & my new 73E project
I had a 71T and an 84 Carrera before the advent of forums, so most of my on-line life has been spent on "another forum" in the 993 world. But last week I purchased a 73E project car so I will be spending some (a lot) of time here. The car has a 94 3.6 with 915 tranny (both rebuilt by Pat Williams Racing), shaved gutters, steel flares, steel S bumper, RS type braces in the tub, 964 oil cooler & condenser mounted in the fenders (with some pretty trick ducting), dash modified to accept 964 cover with A/C vents, and a vintage air A/C unit. The car was all together & running when the PO decided on a total body resto and then decided to go in other directions (vintage sprint cars, rat rods, a mazda with LS something in it), so it sat like you see it for a few years. I need to do a few things then it will spend a few months at the body shop. I am not afraid of the mechanical part, but i am a little worried about the wiring; I don't know if I to try to wire it myself from scratch o rget a harness from somewhere. I hear people exist who can custom make harnesses, but I have searched this forum and all I see are people like Painless who make starter kits. I would like to know what a custom harness costs before I decide; anyone know who I can contact? Thanks and I'm sure I'll be back with plenty of "where does this go" questions. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1360869416.jpg

You've got your work cut out for you. Luckily you've come to the right place. Lots of help available. Looks like a great project.

Looks like a cool project. Can't wait to follow the results.
From what I've read, Porsche used a lot of unique connections for their switches. So if you would go with a custom harness from somebody like painless, you would have to use custom switches. So if you want the interior to look stock, you'll have to go another route. I'm sure there are Porsche specific shops that can build you a new harness using your old harness for the parts that are hard to get. |
