rusty heat exchanger question on new old SC
just bought an 83 SC and will recieve it in about a week but according to the PPI the Heat exchangers are rusted out. my question is can i use a pr of stock h-e's from a stock 930 (86, i think). i know others said theyre not particularly valueable when i tried to sell them but could i use them to give me heat till i can find something better? tia, mark
ps what do i need to start looking for that would give performance on a budget? |
SSI or Dansk heat exchangers. Lose the cat converter. Backdate heat.

Where are you located ? I have the original heat exchangers off my 83SC that are in good shape.

Would the 930 ones work temporarily till I can get something better or should I buy the used ones from rfuerst?
|
you can get used stock ones very cheap, I sold the set from my 3.2 for $100. The 3.2 HE will work with some finagling. Be warned removing HE if they have not ever been off the car is an adventure that will most likely not be done in a weekend. Lots of threads.
I guess the 930 HE would bolt up but you will need a custom adapter to mount a muffler where the turbo goes - it will be an expensive pain. Also I think the boost release pipe will have to be plugged. Its a very different exhaust set up. |
