Is Handbrake supposed to rest on center console?

Adjusting my handbrake after getting my trailing arms back in with new bushings.

I have always wondered this....when the hand brake is off, is it supposed to rest against the rear edge of the center shifter console?

Or is there supposed to be some sort of stop that may be missing on my car that it rests against to keep it just up a little bit and off the center console?

My guess is that this is normal, I don't see any sort of stop or rest in the parts diagram.

Mine rests on the edge of the center console as you've described. Works normally.

OK, thanks Dave. I'll just adjust it to that position.

Glad the Prius keeps you sane, I think driving a Prius would make me INsane! Then again I used to live near you in NoVA and the traffic was enough on its own.
Love the GLK, beautiful car.

Cheers!

As to contact, mine has slightly worn the console that it's touching.....

So does mine. I was wondering if I should try to raise it slightly - seems the answer is no.
