What size Fuchs for space saver?
What size is the Fuchs that serves as the wheel for the space saver? (for a resto project)
|
The rim that came with the 15" space saver was probably the 5.5" steel wheel.
The 944 Turbo spare was the 15" x 5.5" aluminum wheel. Not sure which rim size that came off the 16" space saver. But I seem to remember it was also a 5.5" width. The Fuchs rim with a space saver mounted to spiff-up the trunk is most likely a 15 x 6" rim. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1361225309.jpg |
I love the look and would love to do this....but how do you transfer the collapsible spare to the Fuchs? I went to a tire place and they said NFW....
Can you buy new collapsibles? Dennis |

from what I have heard you can order them but cost is a bit ... most of ours are likely rotted and will not work as designed (30 plus years) tires are to be replaced at 6 years so go figure ... Mine is in there only for looks ... AAA premium and a cell phone ....... |
I had the 15x6 Fuchs narrowed by 1 3/8th" to keep the tire from rolling off the bead when it was inflated, then deflated. - that's the test - can you inflate it and deflate it and still retain the bead?

I did one for another member on a factory 15x6" wheel. Worked like it was supposed to, bead stayed in place.....
