How concerned would you be about this sunroof leak?

Is it a major problem? Can it cause damage to other parts of the car?

There should be no leaks from the sunroof. They are not designed to be water tight from the exterior but, instead, when water intrudes it is channeled to drains at the front and rear of the sunroof rails. If you have an interior leak, it is likely because one or more of the drain tubes is plugged allowing the water to collect in the shallow trough of the rail and spill into the headliner. What you see may be only the tip of the iceberg as water may have traveled down to the floor and under the carpets in the rear.

My advice is to fix the drainage for the roof asap. Find the exit holes for the sunroof tubes and run some stiff wire or even line from a weed wacker through them and pour water through until you get a good, clean flow. You may want to do a quick check under the carpets to see if any water has gotten to the floors.

Thanks. Does this damage definitely look like it was caused by water? The best place to check is under the carpet in front of the rear seats?

Sometimes the glue lifts up and gives the appearance of water damage...especially around the corners of the sunroof where the material was stretched. When it lifts it shrinks a bit due to heat in the cabin and can look like, but is not, water damage.
