2.7 RS engine conversion cost?

Eagerly awaiting Wayne's new book. I am considering rebuilding my 2.7 and wonder what the difference in cost from a standard rebuild would be compared to an RS spec engine.

i.e. What is the standard (range) cost in rebuilding a stock 2.7 liter engine?

As far as I understand the cost is similar when doing it properly . However you will spend more money on cyl head match porting, camshafts , and even more for injection if you chose not to use webers. I may be wrong though since Ive personally never performed a R/S rebuild myself.

The main difference between an RS engine and a regular 2.7 is the following:

S cams
RS pistons/cylinders
MFI

Other than the above, your rebuild will follow the procedures for any other 911 engine.

Hope this helps,

depending on your engine type, the intake and exhaust port may be different too.

2.7 RS cost

I looked into this: the shop I dealt with asked about $2K more to rebuild my 2.7 and include the MFI system. You should also consider an extermal oil cooler if you don't have one already. I hear that's another $1,200 retail.
