74 Targa interior
Hi all,
Ive started a little restoration project and I'm wanting to keep the car as original as possible. I have a 1974 Targa , Salmon metallic with red interior with what looks to be either a " Berber" or a " tweed" insert in the seats. Does anyone know where i can find this material ? Any help at all would be great. Thank you ![]() ![]() ![]() |

That fabric is very expensive - going for around $500 per meter from Germany. Since the outside of the car is about as far as you can go from original with the flared fenders, wheels, side panels, etc save yourself a huge headache and get a pair of stock black vinyl seats. At this point it doesn't matter if you keep the interior stock. I mean if you like it 'stock' then I would find a tweed alternative, but dumping a bunch of money on an interior when the exterior has been modified so much does not make much sense.

I am well aware the outside of the car is not original. I guess i just needed to state i liked the interior and would like to restore it . Cost was not the issue a place i could find the material was. Thank you.

I don't think that the gray center section is original, but the red fabric perimeter might be. I have the original color books for 1974. If you will pm me your email, I will try to get a pdf of the relevant pages to you. You might be able to get the correct interior code if you write to Porsche.
I like the flares - they look to be well done from your photos. The extra sheet metal really balances the targa glass and roll bar nicely. |

I like your car. It looks good with the targa, flares, color combo and even the wheels.
I'd think an auto upholstery shop could find a really close match on that fabric.
