Aftermarket Oil Tank for 911SC
I have just removed my oil tank as it is leaking. It is in reasonable condition but has a fair amount of pitting corrosion and I assume, a few pinholes to leak through. Is it feasible to repair this type of damage or do I need to replace the tank? The pitting is not excessive but is widespread. If I need a replacement, is there any cheaper alternative than a Porsche original part?

A used one should be fairly easy to find.

Is a used one likely to be any better though? They are all getting old now, and the corrosion is inter-granular (Sorry, I'm an engineer!) so it will happen to all the tanks eventually. I wouldn't want to spend a load of money on a used one which is no better!

Depends.....take it to a radiator shop for an estimate on repair. Pressure check and boil out and repair should be rather cheap.
An oil tank from an area that has mild weather may be a solution as well.
